  • Part A - Hospital Insurance (Inpatient Hospital Care & Hospice)
  • Part B - Medical Insurance (Doctor Visits & Preventive Care)
  • Part C - Medicare Advantage (Private Insurance Company Coverage, approved by Medicare)
  • Part D - Prescription Drug Coverage

Relevant Questions Before You Choose Medicare

  • Are you trying to decide about your Medicare health plan option?
  • Do you need a Medicare Supplement or a Medicare Advantage plan?
  • What is Medicare Part D?
  • Do you need Medicare Part B, if you're covered by an employer's group plan?
  • To get a Medicare plan, either an Advantage or Supplemental plan, you must have Medicare Part A and Part B.

About Parts & Respective Plans

  • Medicare supplement plans (or Medigap plans) may offer benefits in addition to the benefits provided by traditional Medicare Parts A and B.
  • There are different types of Medicare supplement plans which cover the Medicare deductibles or require you to cover the deductibles.
  • Medicare supplement plans and Medicare Advantage plans are not complementary, so you and our skilled agent need to understand which type of policy makes the most sense for you.

Individual Health Insurance

Individual and family health insurance plans can help cover expenses in the case of serious medical emergencies, and help you and your family stay on top of preventative health-care services. Having health insurance coverage can save you money on doctor's visits, prescriptions drugs, preventative care and other health-care services. Typical health insurance plans for individuals include costs such as a monthly premium, annual deductible, copayments, and coinsurance.

Small Group

Providing health insurance as a small business is a great way to hire and retain excellent employees. The Affordable Care Act currently requires small businesses to offer health insurance, if they have 50 or more full-time workers. If certain small businesses fail to provide health insurance to employees, they may be subject to fines.

Term Life Insurance

Provides affordable coverage for a specific period of time. Payment amounts don't change for the guaranteed premium period.

Typically, proceeds from a term life insurance policy may be used to cover needs like:

  • Pay off the mortgage on your home
  • Provide an emergency fund
  • Help provide for a child's education fund
  • Pay off personal debts

Short-Term Healthcare

Short Term health insurance, sometimes called Term health insurance or Temporary health insurance, is designed to help bridge gaps in your health care coverage during times of transition. In general, a Short-Term health insurance premium is significantly less than that of an ACA plan. Since a Short-Term insurance plan isn’t required to include the 10 essential health benefits defined in the ACA, you can choose a less expensive plan that offers less coverage. An ACA plan covers preexisting conditions, but with a Short-Term plan, you should expect to pay the costs related to preexisting conditions without coverage.

FAQs On Short-Term Health Insurance

These are some basic questions that anyone seeking
Short-Term Health Insurance should answer.

Short-Term medical insurance, also called temporary health insurance or term health insurance can provide a temporary solution to help fill gaps in coverage.

A Short-Term plan is suitable in the following scenarios.

  • Between jobs
  • Waiting for other coverage to begin
  • Waiting to be eligible for Medicare coverage
  • Without health insurance, outside of Open Enrollment

For these situations and more where you are stuck in a coverage gap, finding the best Short Term health insurance plan may be just the right solution for you.

Term lengths vary by state, but in some states, you can apply for up to nearly 12 months of coverage. Ready to see some short term plans underwritten by Golden Rule Insurance Company?

Usually not. If you need coverage for longer, you may be able to apply for another short term insurance plan. Some states will also allow you to purchase back-to-back plans for longer coverage. However, for any subsequent plan, whatever you received treatment for under a preceding plan will be considered a preexisting condition in most cases.

Yes, spouses and dependents can be covered under a short-term insurance plan. However, because the short-term is medically underwritten, all family members will need to meet the medical requirements of the plan.

No. In most cases, short-term insurance plans do not cover preexisting conditions, which depending on your state’s definition, would mean something you received diagnosis or treatment for within the last 2 to 5 years. If you are in this situation, you may want to explore other options or see if you can extend your current insurance plan.

Many, but not all, Short Term health insurance plans can take effect is the day after your application is received. You may also choose a later effective date based on your individual needs.

Preventive care can sometimes be covered under a Short Term plan. Check the plan details for more information.

Prescriptions may be covered in some plans. Check specific plan details to learn more.

It is possible, but check the network offered by any Short Term health insurance you plan to buy for the inclusion of doctors that are important to you.

No. This coverage is not “minimum essential coverage” as defined by the ACA. The federal tax penalty for not having minimum essential coverage no longer applies as of January 31, 2019. However, tax penalties may still exist at the state level. Consult your tax advisor for more information.

No. short term plans do not qualify for tax subsidies under the ACA. Generally speaking, temporary health insurance costs less than ACA health plans, so the option may still make sense for your situation.

Dental Insurance

Dental coverage is something else you don’t want to have holes in, but the truth is, many of us do. For a large portion of Americans, not having dental insurance is that hole. As of 2017, over 20% of people in the United States were not covered by a dental plan of some kind. Most medical insurance plans don’t cover even routine dental care.

Dental insurance is coverage for common dental care services ranging from preventive care like routine cleanings to more major services like root canals. At its best, it can help you not only budget for those dental services but also maintain a good dental care routine.

Medical Cost Sharing

Chris J. Todd & Associates, through an innovative layering of healthcare services, enables individuals and families to access high-quality healthcare that is flexible, affordable, and effective. These plans are offered by Health Sharing Ministries.

What are Healthcare Sharing Ministry Programs?

Healthcare Sharing Ministry programs are offered by organizations called Healthcare Sharing Ministries. Healthcare Sharing Ministries facilitate the sharing of medical expenses among groups of individuals and families who have united to share each other's medical bills in accordance with the biblical principle that believers have a responsibility to assist in meeting each other's needs (Gal 6:2) and that they share their possessions (Acts 4:32).

Healthcare Sharing Ministries (HCSM's) are not Insurance and, because of that, are exempt from the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare). As of February 2019, over 1 million Americans currently participate in a Healthcare Sharing program and share more than $670 million in medical bills each year. Most HCSM's have lifestyle restrictions such as drinking to excess, using tobacco products, taking illegal drugs, etc. and its members must agree to a statement of beliefs and lead a healthy lifestyle.
